Volunteerism is the voice of the people put into action. The Muskingum Valley Park District is fortunate to have dedicated volunteers who help us realize our mission to enrich the quality of life of Muskingum County residents by conserving natural areas, providing passive and active recreational opportunities, and instilling an appreciation of the natural, historical, and cultural heritage of our community.

Our volunteers nurture growing things at Mission Oaks and Gale Gardens, patrol and maintain mountain bike trails, hiking and paved recreational trails, and assist with educational and recreational programs at our various facilities. Historically, volunteers have served through organized efforts such as the Muskingum Valley Park Society, Mission Oaks Gardens, Gale Gardens, Muskingum County Master Gardeners, and the Muskingum Valley Garden Society.

To better serve our community we are consolidating Muskingum Valley Park District volunteer initiatives under one umbrella to be guided by park district headquarters. This will empower us to better serve you and our patrons. You can continue to volunteer at the gardens, parks, and trails of your interest and we will do our best to keep you informed of all the volunteer opportunities available throughout the park district. As an added reward to your volunteer contributions, you will be eligible to participate in educational clinics, workshops and “members only” social events.
