Collegial Woods Trails is a passive recreation park located on the northern portion of the Ohio University- Zanesville and Zane State College campus. The Park is 63 acres, most of which is a wooded ravine crisscrossed by nearly two miles of walking trails, some of which are quite challenging and offer views of Joe’s Run and several small wetlands. A 10-foot-wide accessible gravel trail along the edge of the woods connects to the campus sidewalks to make a nearly two-mile walking loop. Collegial Woods was developed with the assistance of two NatureWorks grants through the Ohio Department of Natural Resources. The Collegial Woods Trail network connects to the Joe’s Run Recreational Trail.
The Joe’s Run Recreational Trail connects the Zanesville City School’s Middle and High School campuses with the Ohio University Zanesville – Zane State College campus. The asphalt paved trail meanders through the McIntire Forest and crosses Joes Run Creek, and an unnamed tributary.
The Muskingum Recreational Trail extends south from Dresden River Park to just north of Gilbert Station Road. The corridor consists of asphalt paved trail and gravel base. Approximately six miles of asphalt trail connects the Village of Dresden to Rock Cut Road in Muskingum Township. An additional section of paved trail exists between Rock Cut Road and Ellis Dam Road to the south.
