Gale Garden is a small one-acre public garden located in the McIntire Historic District in Zanesville, Ohio. In the early 1800’s, the site was a farm pasture and then a truck farm for vegetables. Kenneth Gale, a renowned tile designer from the Mosaic Tile Company, and his wife, Jane Gale, purchased the property in 1938 and turned into a retreat garden. The property was donated to the Mission Oaks Foundation in 2005 and was later acquired by the MVPD in 2010. Since, the garden has transformed into what some might see in South Carolina. The garden features more than 80 species of trees and shrubs as well as a wide variety of woody ornamentals and perennials including a large Hosta collection. two metal sculptures by local artist David Griesmyer were installed through the generosity of the Kiwanis Club of Zanesville commemorating the clubs 100th anniversary and honoring the Mosaic Tile Company.
