The Joe’s Run Recreational Trail connects the Zanesville City School’s Middle and High School campuses with the Ohio University Zanesville – Zane State College campus. The asphalt paved trail meanders through the McIntire Forest and crosses Joes Run Creek, and an unnamed tributary. Nature enthusiast can expect to see excellent examples of Muskingum County’s native flora and fauna on this 1.25-mile trail. The Joe’s Run Recreational Trail connects to the Collegial Woods Trail network near the accessible gravel perimeter trail.
This trail corridor began construction is the spring of 2018 and was completed after three phases in the summer of 2020.”
Things to do: The diverse habitat of woods, vernal pools, pine tree stand, Joes Run Creek, and ravines provide for a variety of animals. The wooded trail from Ohio University Zanesville to Adams Lane is great for birding. This entire trail is paved so makes a great trail for birding, running, walking, or biking.
Directions: Located between Blue Avenue in Zanesville, through Adams Circle, and connects to Collegial Woods Trails at the Ohio University Zanesville and Zane State College campuses.
Parking: Parking available at Ohio University Zanesville.
Trail Access: Via the Collegial Woods gravel trail and Zanesville Middle School when school is not in session.
